Twitter + Advertising = Twittad to try to leverage the micro blogging advertising
Sending tweets and getting the Twitter follower world informed about what you is one kind of micro blogging. Email sending is also a kind of micro blogging, depending on how many people you put in it. The difference between those 2 forms of micro blogging lies in the public/ private status. That’s on that status that Twittad tries to leverage the folks using Twitter to generate business. Are they able to make it?
Pages views and self valuation
Twittad is based on “product placement & website promotion on a Twitter user profile” as they say on their website. Basically they ask Twitter users collaborating with them to integrate an image that would include the advertising of one of their client. To join the advertising platform, you just have to provide your account name and tell the platform the price and duration of the placement.
Basically the business model isn’t any different from the classic page views system and the process is inspired by the product placement model of the movie business. So no spamming, no interuption, you only get the ad when you go on the website. That’s the strenght, but also maybe the wickness of the service.
Who’s reading Twitter on the Twitter website?
Website metrics aren’t anything you can ask to a company such as Twitter since they’re sensitive data that won’t be easily shared. And that’s what Twittad needs to get to be able to properly report to its customers. Moreover, Twitter most important users aren’t using the website as their Twitter platform, preferring to use computer application such as Twhirl, making the page views process irrelevant.
Based on that analysis, how can Twittad generate stickiness to their service and grow without any ability to provide clients with data or campaign dashboard? Not sure the business offer of Twittad is accurate and answer the need of the customer in terms of relevancy and interest. Maybe we can have more on their future following their blog.
